Bikanervala was founded 115 years ago in the Indian state of Rajasthan in Bikaner. It started as a small shop called Lalji which sold sweets and namkeen ( snacks mostly fried and served with evening tea ). It established its headquarters in Delhi almost seven decades ago. It is one of India’s biggest and most popular chains, with 94 outlets in Indian and abroad, the newest one opened in Doha is that, What is wonderful about this restaurant is that they have managed to keep the taste the same as it would be in Delhi. Not that I am a big fan of North Indian taste even though my roots are from the northern part of India. There is one golden rule for ordering Indian food, check the specialty of the restaurant, and make sure u order dishes that have their origin in that part of India. In this instance, I broke the rule and ordered Bhel puri. How much did I suffer, it was so difficult finishing it off. The Raj kachori, Samosa chat, and aloo paratha(how I wished they served it with some white Butter ) tasted the same as the ones I had in Delhi. The bit I liked best about the whole meal is the achar (pickle ) How I wish I was able to find Pickles like this in the shops of Doha.
Are you a big fan of North Indian food? then this is the place for you. Happy eating!
