I came across this restaurant during my early morning walks when I was discovering the narrow streets of Souq Waqif. It has very basic sitting ( benches /tables /chairs just kept in a couple of small rooms )on the first floor and in the ally of the souq. It also uses the alley behind the restaurant to sit guests ( traditional Qatari benches and tables). This is where we choose to sit, basking in the winter sun with fans overhead fighting away the flies from our food.
On ordering our food we realized that most of the time the menu was not available. We finally managed to our food to our liking. The staff here speak very limited English, but that was not a problem for us we all had a common language which was Hindi. We went overboard with the ordering which we found difficult to finish, as the portion sizes were big, especially the rice. The food was simple, homemade, and fresh. Tastewise for me has less salt and spice. Nothing some extra salt and green chilies could not fix.
I would definitely recommend a visit for sure. Lamb stir fry is a must-try for sure. Before I forget the opening time for the restaurant is 6 am – 2.30 and 6 pm to 10 pm.
