One cold winter morning I found myself in Souq Waqif looking for a place to have breakfast ( after sweating it out on the yoga mat ) where I could sit basking in the winter sun. After a long search around the Souq decided to sit here(even though the chairs looked uncomfortable and I planned to sit for the longest of times ) . As fate would have it, it was the best decision I had made in a very long time.
Tikka and Kabab Ameen is one of the 97 restaurants ( A fact shared by Mr. Honey who is the Manager at the restaurant)in Souq Waqif. It has outdoor sitting only, like some of the restaurants in the Souq. I need to mention that the chairs are quite comfortable!
The servers out there are very helpful, and always ready to go the extra mile. Mr honey the manager is very charming and knowledgeable. We were well looked after, which is quite rare in Doha.
Now let’s get down to business, that is the food! Hot pipping crispy Tandoori Roti served with Foul (for once they were nicely cooked ) Hummus, Shakshuka ( not so good, as it was mildly flavored), Labneh, and probably the best Falafel I have eaten in a very long time. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are the Egyptian kind made with Fava beans and all. Mr. Honey did say the recipe was given to him by his mom. All this for 93 riyals for the 3 of us.
A point to remember while dining there is to get the Roti one at a time, they are best eaten hot and it does take some time to finish them off. Also, don’t forget to order some Karak to wash all that food with.
